The journey begins in the Legacy of the Phoenix series, and will continue through different books. There are three planned sets of books. In Kingdoms of Avern, you'll explore the world as kingdoms vie for power among each other. Pirates of Avern takes you through the journeys of the Pirates that sail the various seas around the largest continent of Avern. And, in Dragons of Avern, you'll meet the Dragon-Blooded, and perhaps, a dragon or two, if things work out.

The Story of Avern
The world of Avern is growing and changing before the eyes of its residents. In a universe ruled by the Maker and Unmaker, things are never simple for the mortals of the realms, or even for the immortal gods.
As the world of Avern was brought to be by the Flame of Asumbar, otherwise known as the flame of life, there have been many effects on the people both mortal and immortal. The Flame of Asumbar was carried by the Eternal Phoenix, the only immortal universal creature capable of bearing such a powerful object. The effect, though, of bearing such a powerful artifact, and bring life to the world of Avern, was that the Eternal Phoenix was sundered into the component elemental parts of earth, air, water, fire, light, and dark. These elements make up everything in the world of Avern from magic to physical objects.
Magical and rife with those who want power, there are many aspects of Avern that cause suffering to those that reside there. During the Abandonment—a period of nearly one thousand years when the gods were gone—different factions rose to power and took the place of once powerful priests and clerics. The effect was that of there becoming blossoming republics as well as corrupt oligarchies and other political structures.
Venture into Avern, and find a land full of opportunities, both good and ill. Adventures abound and those who seek their fortune in the form of glory or gold walk the world. From pirates and kings to paupers and peasants, there are people of all walks of life. Enter with care, as there is no telling what will happen once you’re in Avern.
Welcome to Avern
In the enchanting world of Avern, a mystical realm brimming with ancient secrets and divine beings, adventure awaits at every turn. Here, powerful gods weave their influence into the very fabric of reality, shaping destinies and orchestrating world-altering events. Unique characters, ranging from brave heroes to cunning tricksters, navigate through this ever-changing landscape, each with their own story to tell and goals to achieve. As alliances are forged and rivalries ignited, the balance of power shifts, leading to cataclysmic occurrences that echo through the ages. Travelers and seekers of truth embark on epic quests, uncovering relics of immense power and unraveling the mysteries that bind the realms together. In Avern, every moment is imbued with magic, and the potential for greatness lies just beyond the horizon, waiting to be discovered by those brave enough to explore its depths.
The world of Avern has been Abandoned by the gods. At least, that’s what the people believe. There is a truth they cannot see, and it has not gone unnoticed. Descending to the world, the Dark Phoenix, the Mother of the Gods, is determined to find out what has happened to her children at the Maker’s behest. A piece of the Eternal Phoenix, that which brought life to Avern, the Dark Phoenix is born within the body of the crown princess of Lineria, Keiara. When her sister attempts to usurp the throne after committing regicide, she tries to kill her only sister, and her only opponent. The strike is true, but instead of killing the young princess, the old sword pierces the barrier between Keiara and the sleeping Dark Phoenix, uniting them in one body in the flames of rebirth.
Once released, the Dark Phoenix must locate those that will dedicate themselves to her, those that will give everything to save the world of Avern. These individuals, though, have more to them than they realize, as there is a reason they find themselves drawn to Keiara and the power she possesses. They know not what power they themselves possess.
Gaining allies of humans, elves, dwarves, vampires, demi-gods, shifters, and demons, Keiara quickly surrounds herself with a powerful party. Time is limited, though, as they have a mere year to find the gods and release them, and to do that, first the Keepers must be released. Two parties are formed, and as they part ways, they each set off on different missions. Along the way, new allies are found, and new enemies are discovered. There is little to do but continue on their path, even when the steps grow difficult.
In the darkness, a force moves the pieces of the world of Avern like a game. This force will see the world destroyed and recreated in their own image, and if Keiara and her allies do not succeed, the world of Avern will be forever changed.
